Engystol N guide: choosing your form and pack

Traditional homeopathic use, education only. Speak to your doctor before you start any remedy, and follow the directions on the pack.

Engystol N is a Heel combination remedy. It is sold on one product page in two forms, tablets and ampoules, with five pack sizes between them. This guide sets out what each form is, how the packs compare on price, and where to find more. It is written to help you choose a pack, not to diagnose or advise on treatment.

1. What Engystol N is

Engystol N is a Heel combination remedy made from Vincetoxicum hirundinaria and Sulfur in several potencies. It is also sold as Engystol Tabletten in German. It comes as tablets and as 1.1 ml oral ampoules.

The product page lists the composition. Tablets contain Vincetoxicum hirundinaria D6, D10 and D30 (75 mg each) and Sulfur D4 and D10 (37.5 mg each). The ampoules contain the same ingredients in liquid form. The page also lists contraindications, side effects and interactions with other medication. Read the full page before you buy.

2. The two forms

2.1 Tablets

Tablets are taken by mouth. Our dosage page says tablets are dissolved completely in the mouth and can be mixed with a little water. The Engystol N page gives these directions:

  • Acute use: 1 tablet every 15 minutes for a maximum of 2 hours.
  • General use: 1 tablet 3 times daily.

2.2 Ampoules

The ampoules are oral vials of 1.1 ml. Our dosage page explains how to open an ampoule and says the contents can be mixed in a small glass of water and sipped slowly, separate from food. The Engystol N page gives these directions:

  • Acute use: 1 oral vial up to 3 times per day.
  • General use: 1 oral vial 3 to 7 times weekly.

Our dosage page also says not to take coffee or peppermint for 10 minutes before or after Heel remedies. For anything else, such as use with children, follow the directions on the pack and see our dosage page.

3. Which pack?

Form Pack Price Per unit
Tablets Box of 50 £9.50 £0.19
Tablets Box of 250 £36.93 £0.15
Ampoules Box of 10 £33.36 £3.34
Ampoules Box of 100 £239.09 £2.39
Ampoules 3 boxes of 100 (bulk option) £681.39 £2.27

All five are on the Engystol N page. Choose the form in the selector at the top of the page.

3.1 A simple way to think about it

  1. Trying it for the first time. The smallest box of the form you prefer is the lowest outlay.
  2. Regular use in a household or practice. The larger boxes cost less per unit. Check the expiry date with us before ordering large quantities, because expiry dates vary by product.
  3. Tablets or ampoules. Tablets are counted and dissolved in the mouth. Ampoules are single vials, sipped in water. Ampoules cost more per unit.
  4. Bulk. The 3 x 100 ampoule option is the only multi-box option. Its listed price is below three single boxes of 100.

3.2 Before you order

  1. Pick the form in the selector at the top of the product page, then check the pack size shown in the price line.
  2. Read the dosage lines on the page and the directions on the pack. Our dosage page gives the general guidance for tablets and ampoules.
  3. Read the composition. Tablets and ampoules list the same ingredients, in different amounts per unit.
  4. Ask us about expiry dates if they matter to you, especially for the 100-ampoule boxes.
  5. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, giving a remedy to a child, or taking regular medicines, speak to a practitioner or your doctor first.

4. Engystol N with Gripp-Heel

The Engystol N + Gripp-Heel set sells a box of each in one order. The pack "50 tablets each" is £17.30 and the pack "250 tablets each" is £68.38. The product page says the set is priced 5% below buying the two boxes separately. Each product keeps its own directions, so read both pages.

5. Other cold-season products

Engystol N sits alongside other products in our cold and flu range:

See them all in the Common Colds and Flu collection, or read our immune, cold, flu and respiratory hub. For a map of the whole range, see our cold and flu cupboard starter kit. Our article on Engystol gives more background.

6. For animals (veterinary)

This is a separate veterinary product, not the human pack above: Engystol N ampoules, 5 ml, in boxes of 5 (£28.41) and 50 (£211.07). It has its own page and its own directions for animals.

7. Next steps
