How Testis Compositum ampoules are administered: routes, frequency and practitioner guidance

Educational information on traditional homeopathic use only. Not medical advice.

Testis Compositum is sold as an injectable ampoule solution and as tablets. People often ask how the ampoules are used, how often, and who gives them. This article sets out what the monograph and the label say, and explains why a practitioner is involved. It is general information, not medical advice. The full monograph is on our page Testis Compositum: further details.

What the monograph says about ampoules

The dosage in the monograph reads, in general, 3 to 1 times weekly, 1 ampoule, given i.m., s.c., i.d., or if necessary i.v. The pack contains 10 or 100 ampoules of 2.2 ml each. On the Testis Compositum product page the same dosage is expressed as 1 ampoule 3 to 1 times weekly.

The monograph's "further details" section adds that the dosage is adjusted according to the disease, the clinical picture and the stage of the illness. At the start of treatment it lists 1 ampoule 3 times weekly, and after improvement only 1 ampoule once to twice weekly, alternating with suitable auxiliary remedies. In practice, then, the frequency is a decision for a practitioner who knows the individual situation, not a fixed schedule printed for everyone.

What the abbreviations mean

The routes listed in the monograph are abbreviations for medical injection routes.

  • i.m. means intramuscular: into a muscle.
  • s.c. means subcutaneous: under the skin.
  • i.d. means intradermal: into the skin itself.
  • i.v. means intravenous: into a vein. The monograph lists it only "if necessary".

Each of these needs training in injection technique, site selection and hygiene. That is why we describe the routes listed in the monograph as practitioner administration.

Who should and should not inject

Injectable homeopathic ampoules are normally administered by a trained practitioner. If you are unsure, ask a qualified practitioner, and do not inject unless you are trained to do so. We cannot give personal medical advice, and this article does not replace the label or a practitioner's guidance.

The manufacturer's patient leaflet for Testis compositum N Ampullen (the product our description says the ampoules are also sold as) contains several points that are worth reading in full:

  • It states that use requires an individual dosage from a practitioner experienced in homeopathy, unless otherwise prescribed, and that for continued therapy you should turn to such a practitioner.
  • It lists a contraindication: do not use if you are hypersensitive to the protein of the donor animal.
  • For pregnancy and breastfeeding, it advises asking a doctor or pharmacist before using any medicine.
  • It states that homeopathic medicines should not be used over a prolonged period without medical advice.
  • It notes that no side effects are known, and that existing complaints may temporarily worsen when using homeopathic medicines (initial aggravation). In that case it advises stopping the medicine and consulting a doctor.

Because the leaflet is for the N product and the composition of the N ampoule differs slightly from the monograph's list, always follow the leaflet and label supplied with the pack you receive.

Storage and handling

From the same leaflet: keep the medicine out of the reach of children, use it only before the expiry date printed on the container and outer packaging, and note that no special storage conditions are required. The leaflet also illustrates how to open the glass ampoule: hold it with the coloured dot facing up, tap or shake so the solution flows down, then break the ampoule neck backwards. Check your own pack for the instructions that apply to it.

The tablets: a different route

For people who do not want or cannot use injections, the product is also sold as tablets. The product page gives this dosage: adults and children above 6 years take 1 tablet sublingually (under the tongue) or dissolved completely in the mouth 3 times daily. Infants and children up to 6 years take half the adult dosage. The tablet composition is not identical to the ampoule, as it lists 20 ingredients rather than 23, so follow the tablet label specifically.

Talking to a practitioner

Before using Testis Compositum, consider contacting a practitioner who is experienced with homeopathic injectables. They can discuss the dosage, the route and the frequency in your circumstances, and administer the ampoules. If you are an athlete subject to testing, check with your sport's governing or anti-doping body first, as we cannot give anti-doping advice. You are welcome to contact us with product questions.
