Jojoba Oil Overview

Biofrid Jojoba Oil is a 100% pure, cold-pressed carrier (base) oil obtained from the seeds of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis). Technically a liquid wax ester, jojoba closely resembles the skin's own natural sebum, which makes it a wonderfully light, non-greasy base for diluting essential oils and for everyday skin and hair care. Supplied in a 50ml bottle.

Traditional & Cosmetic Uses:

  • Carrier oil: the ideal base in which to dilute essential oils before they are applied to the skin.
  • Facial care: traditionally used as a light moisturiser that may help support soft, balanced, healthy-looking skin.
  • Body & massage: a smooth, easily absorbed base for massage blends.
  • Hair & scalp: often applied to help support conditioned-looking hair and a comfortable scalp.
  • Nails & cuticles: traditionally massaged in to help support soft, healthy-looking cuticles.

Key Benefits:

  • Skin-friendly: its structure is similar to the skin's own sebum, making it well tolerated by most skin types.
  • Light & non-greasy: absorbs readily without leaving a heavy, oily residue.
  • Excellent base: perfect for diluting concentrated essential oils for safe skin use.
  • Long-lasting: naturally stable with a good shelf life.
  • Nourishing: traditionally valued for helping to support soft, supple, conditioned skin and hair.

Composition:

  • Ingredient: Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil — 100% pure carrier (base) oil.

Directions for Use:

  • As a carrier: add a few drops of your chosen essential oil to jojoba oil before applying the blend to the skin (a typical dilution is around 1–3% essential oil).
  • On its own: apply a small amount directly to the skin, hair or nails and massage in gently.
  • Patch test: carry out a patch test before first use and discontinue if irritation occurs.
  • External use only: keep away from the eyes; for external use on the skin and hair only.
  • Caution: keep out of the reach of children.

Expanded Overview:

Jojoba is not an essential oil but a carrier oil — a gentle base used to dilute concentrated essential oils so they can be applied safely to the skin. Cold-pressed from the seeds of the desert jojoba shrub, it is, unusually, a liquid wax ester rather than a true oil, giving it a light texture and remarkable stability. Because its composition is so close to the skin's natural sebum, it is one of the most versatile and well-tolerated bases available.

On its own, jojoba is traditionally used as a light moisturiser for the face, body, hair and nails, valued for absorbing quickly without a greasy feel. Combined with essential oils, it forms the foundation of countless aromatherapy and skincare blends. As with any skincare product, it is for external use only; anyone with a specific skin concern should consult a qualified practitioner before use.
