Mucokehl vs Nigersan vs Sankombi: What's the Difference?

Educational information on traditional homeopathic use only. Not medical advice.

Three Sanum remedies are often confused because they come from the same family of moulds: Mucokehl®, Nigersan® and Sankombi®. Here is what each one is, how they differ, and how people choose between them.

Nigersan® Aspergillus niger The Aspergillus remedy, often linked with connective tissue, mucous membranes and the respiratory tract
Sankombi® Both, mixed One bottle containing the two, at D5

Mucokehl

Mucokehl is prepared from the mould Mucor racemosus. In Sanum therapy it is often known to be used in connection with the blood, circulation and the vessels, and as part of a programme to support the body's internal environment. It is made in several forms, including drops, ampoules, capsules, suppositories and ointment, and in several dilutions. We explain it in full in What Is Mucokehl?

Nigersan

Nigersan is prepared from Aspergillus niger, the black mould. Its labelling describes traditional use to maintain the healthy structure of organs, connective tissue and mucous membranes. Practitioners often associate it with long-standing conditions and with the lungs and respiratory tract. See What Is Nigersan?

Sankombi

Sankombi is a mixture of the two at D5. It is registered as a homeopathic medicine for use as an accompanying remedy in long-standing conditions, and the German box simply says "Mischung" (mixture). Read more in What Is Sankombi?

Why are Mucokehl and Nigersan paired?

In Sanum therapy the two moulds are traditionally seen as partners. Practitioners who use both often prescribe them in sequence or together, and Sanum made Sankombi for the convenience of having the two in one bottle. If you already use both, Sankombi can replace two bottles. If you want to adjust one dose independently, the single remedies are more flexible.

How do people choose?

  • A practitioner has named one remedy: buy that one.
  • Both are recommended: Sankombi is one bottle instead of two, and the singles let you set each dose separately.
  • You are new to Sanum: ask a practitioner, and read our beginner's guide.

What they have in common

All three are D5 drops from Sanum-Kehlbeck. Usual label directions for adults and children over 12 are about 5 drops once or twice daily by mouth. All three carry the same cautions: not for children under 12, in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with autoimmune conditions, or with mould hypersensitivity.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sankombi stronger than Mucokehl?

No. All are D5 dilutions. Sankombi simply contains both organisms.

Can I use them together?

Some practitioners do. Ask yours before combining them.

Which one is best for a beginner?

There is no universal answer. A practitioner who knows your history can tell you.

What about Albicansan?

Albicansan is made from a yeast, Candida albicans, not a mould. See Albicansan vs Sankombi.
