Mucokehl® is one of the best-known remedies from Sanum-Kehlbeck, the German maker of isopathic preparations. It is made from the mould Mucor racemosus and is sold as drops, ampoules, capsules, suppositories and ointment in a range of dilutions. The drops are often labelled "Mucokehl D5 Tropfen".
What is isopathy?
Isopathy is a branch of homeopathy in which a remedy is prepared from the organism itself, then diluted and potentised. Sanum products follow the work of the German researcher Günther Enderlein, who described microorganisms that change form depending on the conditions in the body. Sanum-Kehlbeck makes its remedies to fit that framework.
What is Mucor racemosus?
Mucor racemosus is a common mould found in soil, damp places and some foods. Most healthy people meet it every day without trouble. In Sanum therapy it is used only in homeopathic dilution, which is a different thing from eating or breathing in the mould.
What is Mucokehl traditionally used for?
In Sanum therapy Mucokehl is often known to be used in connection with the blood, circulation and the vessels, and as part of a programme to support the body's internal environment. These are traditional uses, not proven medical effects, and we make no claim that Mucokehl treats or cures any condition.
The Mucokehl range
- Drops: the most common form. Look for D5 for general use.
- Ampoules, capsules, suppositories and ointment: made at various dilutions for different routes.
- Mucokehl Atox: an "atoxic" version, traditionally associated with excretion. See Mucokehl Atox.
Mucokehl and Nigersan
Practitioners often combine Mucokehl with Nigersan, its partner remedy, made from Aspergillus niger. For convenience, Sanum makes a mixture of the two, Sankombi. Our comparison, Mucokehl vs Nigersan vs Sankombi, explains when each is chosen.
How is it taken?
Follow the leaflet in your pack or your practitioner's directions. For D5 drops, the typical label directions for adults and children over 12 are a few drops (often 5) once or twice daily by mouth.
Who should avoid it?
Not suitable for children under 12, in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with autoimmune conditions or mould hypersensitivity. Speak to your doctor if you are unwell or on medication.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mucokehl a mould supplement?
No. It is a homeopathic dilution, not a mould extract to be eaten as a supplement.
What is the difference between Mucokehl and Sankombi?
Mucokehl contains only Mucor racemosus. Sankombi contains both Mucor racemosus and Aspergillus niger.
What does Atox mean?
Atoxic preparations are made with a different potentisation and are traditionally associated with excretion in Sanum therapy.
Is Mucokehl D5 Tropfen the same product?
Yes. Tropfen means drops. See our guide to the German boxes.
