Beyond the Gut: Organ Support, Trace Elements and Plant Extracts in SANUM Practice

Part 10 of our series, "Understanding SANUM Therapy."

This article is educational in nature and does not replace personalised medical advice. If you are managing a health condition, please consult a qualified practitioner.

Nine articles into this series, we have covered the theoretical foundations of SANUM therapy, its two great families of isopathic and immunobiological preparations, the terrain-restoring acid-base remedies, and the four-step protocol that ties them together. What remains is the supporting cast — a group of preparations that rarely headline a treatment programme on their own, but which the SANUM tradition considers essential to a properly rounded approach: organ preparations, trace elements, and plant extracts.

Organ Preparations

Three remedies in this category are singled out for their broad, positive effect on the entire metabolism. Thymokehl activates metabolism and stimulates the pre-stages of T-lymphocytes toward maturation, strengthening the immune system from within the thymus's own developmental role. Chrysocor, a placenta hydrolysate, contains biogenic stimulators that influence metabolism by raising cellular respiration. And Rebas, an organ extract of Peyer's Patches — the immune tissue embedded in the lining of the small intestine — stimulates both B- and T-lymphocytes, strengthening humoral defences and supporting the body in maintaining or re-establishing an intact immune system. Together, this trio is understood to work on the whole metabolic picture rather than any single organ in isolation.

Trace Elements and Minerals

An important factor in maintaining health lies in supplying the body with the mineral and trace elements its regulatory processes depend on. Without a stable electrolyte equilibrium of ions such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, the regulatory processes that underpin a properly functioning metabolism simply cannot take their course. Trace elements — needed by the body in only the smallest amounts, but entering catalytically into metabolic processes as genuine bio-catalysts — include iron, zinc, manganese, copper, cobalt, iodine and fluorine; without them, many life-essential processes, including the action of the heart itself, cannot proceed.

The SANUM range offers a focused set of preparations across this spectrum: Alkala® N for sodium and potassium, Mapurit® L for magnesium, Selenokehl® for selenium, Zinkokehl® for zinc, and Cuprukehl® for copper — each calibrated, in the tradition's own framing, to a perfectly balanced total therapy alongside the fungal, bacterial and acid-base preparations covered earlier in this series. Lipiscor®, built from polyunsaturated fatty acids from sea fish, and Pleo Chelate, used for heavy metal detoxification, extend this supportive layer further into general metabolic and detoxification support.

"The trace elements, which according to their name are needed by the body in only very small amounts, enter catalytically into the metabolic processes. Without the presence of these 'bio-catalysts'... many processes that are essential for life cannot take their course."

Plant Extracts: Adjunctive, Not Incidental

Plant extracts occupy a specific role within SANUM practice: adjunctive therapy in combination with isopathic treatment, in support of the immune system, rather than a substitute for it. Cerivikehl®, made from Cetraria islandica (Iceland moss), promotes blood flow to the mucous membranes and additionally has a regulatory influence on pathogens in the gastrointestinal area — making it a natural companion to the deacidification work covered in Part 6. Ginkgobakehl®, built from the active constituent complex of Ginkgo leaves and well known from Asian folk medicine, supports circulatory and cardiovascular health.

Episcorit®, a herbal homeopathic immunostimulant made from expressed Echinacea purpurea juice, addresses recurrent respiratory infections directly. Luffasan®, from the fruits of Luffa operculata, is used mainly for allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, while Okoubasan®, from the bark of Okoubaka aubrevillei, is prized for detoxifying the gastrointestinal tract in cases of food intolerance and for the early stages of colds and flu — both remedies we met earlier as part of the SANUM Excretion Cure.

Several remedies in this group are themselves drawn from fungal or mushroom sources rather than classical botanicals, extending the isopathic principle in a gentler, more general-tonic direction: Grifokehl®, from the Maitake mushroom, and Pinikehl®, traditionally used to support the liver and spleen, both fall into this category, alongside Calvakehl®, built from the giant puffball Calvatia gigantea, and Muscarsan®, from Amanita muscaria, used for neurological and muscular support. Leptospermusan®, from Leptospermum scoparium (manuka), rounds out this group with a further layer of immune system support for recurrent infections.

The Series in Summary

Across these ten articles we have followed a single, coherent line of reasoning — from Enderlein's foundational insight that microorganisms are pleomorphic, not fixed; through the cyclogeny by which a cooperative symbiont can rise into a troublesome parasite; through the isopathic, haptenic and immunobiological principles that give the SANUM range its structure; through the acid-base terrain that governs so much of the picture; and finally to the four-step protocol, and its full complement of organ, trace element and plant support, that brings every piece together into a coherent programme.

What ties it all together is a single underlying conviction: that the body already knows how to restore its own balance, given the right, species-specific, terrain-aware support. Whether that support takes the form of a fungal Chondritin, a bacterial immunostimulant, a Hapten, a trace element, or a simple change in diet, the aim throughout is the same — not to fight the body's own microbial population, but to help it find its way back to symbiosis.
