The previous article in this series traced how PNEI research reframed the Endocrine, Immune and Nervous systems as a single interconnected network, and how GUNA's early experiments — administering a pool of "suis" organotherapies of the Neuroendocrine Axis as a combined homeopathic drug — produced results significant enough to present at the 1996 Homotoxicology Convention in Milan. This article picks up from there: what INET's therapeutic premise actually is, the two methods GUNA considers essential to it, and the full range of chronic conditions where GUNA reports clinical results.
The INET Premise
GUNA's experiments illustrated that, in the case of chronic degenerative pathologies, it is vital to remodulate and re-programme the activity of the Cerebro-Hypothalamic-Gonadic axis, achieved by simultaneously administering the corresponding organotherapies. The modulation of the neuroendocrine axis is a determining factor in the development of pathology — recent studies in Cell and Molecular Biology have shown just how vital a role hormonal substances play in the metabolic balance of the cell membrane.
A chronic pathology causes the "deregulation" of neuroendocrine homeostasis of the membrane receptors, which could lead to cell damage. The "neuroendocrine reprogramming" of the cell membrane is therefore required in order to bring the cell back into homeostasis.
The Two Therapeutic Methods
GUNA identifies two therapeutic methods as vital to achieving neuroendocrine reprogramming:
- The administration of suis organs, particularly glandular ones, which have a well-known modulating action on target tissues in the homeopathic dilutions used in INET compounds.
- The administration of hormonal substances themselves, in a concentration that is physiological for the cells — a concentration GUNA notes is consistent with the homeopathic concept of dilution.
This pairing — organotherapy plus the physiological-dose hormone it corresponds to — is the structural logic behind every INET compound described later in this series.
Where INET Sits Alongside Other Therapies
GUNA regards INET as the "central therapeutic nucleus" for any degenerative endocrine pathology, with the exception of endocrine-dependent tumours. Depending on the case, it can be combined with classic homeopathic therapy, with Homotoxicology in the proper sense of the term, or with allopathic medicines.
In the treatment of chronic patients already on allopathic therapy, GUNA notes that INET is often combined with classic Homotoxicology specifically in order to assess, with extreme caution, any possible change in the posology of drugs such as glucocorticoids, psychotropic drugs, NSAIDs and immunosuppressants. This is a clinical judgement for the treating physician managing the patient's overall care, made in light of that patient's own monitoring — not a general instruction to reduce allopathic medication.
Full Clinical Indications
GUNA reports that the results of this approach have been very encouraging for a range of chronic pathologies, including:
- Functional disorders of the menstrual cycle
- Climacteric syndrome
- Degenerative arthropathy
- Osteoporosis
- Andropause
- Anxious-depressive syndrome in the elderly
- Autoimmune diseases: Hashimoto's thyroiditis, pancreopathy, multiple sclerosis, syringomyelia
- Basedow's disease
- Cerebral and polyregional vasculopathy in the elderly
- Mood disorders
- Degenerative cardiopathy
INET Pharmacology in Practice
As mentioned, Suis Organotherapics have an essential role in INET treatment. These products are prepared at the GUNA Laboratories in Milan from their mother tincture, and are available as oral drops in hydroalcoholic solution, in 30ml bottles.
The products themselves are organised into three groups of increasing complexity, which the rest of this series covers in full: a primary group built purely from Suis organotherapies of the neuroendocrine axis (K2F and K2M), a secondary group that adds single homeopathic remedies, vitamins and other substances with neuroendocrine activity (Senectus F and Senectus M), and a tertiary group formulated specifically as an adjunct in Type 1 diabetes (K2F-DIA and K2M-DIA).
