Part 6 of our series, "Understanding SANUM Therapy."

Heartburn after a heavy meal. A gut that feels permanently reactive. Joints that ache more on some weeks than others, with no obvious trigger. Across the SANUM literature, one factor keeps resurfacing behind an unusually wide range of everyday complaints: the acid-base equilibrium of the blood and tissue, and how far modern eating habits have pushed it out of balance.
We have already seen, across this series, that the milieu governs whether the Endobiont stays a cooperative symbiont or develops into a troublesome parasite. This article looks at the practical side of that idea — the remedies built specifically to restore the terrain itself, independent of which particular organism a person's symptoms are being attributed to.
Why Acidity Drives the Cycle
Even small fluctuations of the blood pH value within the alkaline range — themselves generally preceded by a more substantial acidification of the tissue — are described as promoting the upward development of symbionts toward parasitic germination, either causing disease outright or supporting its progression. This is not a minor detail in the SANUM model; it is close to the central mechanism. Most of what are loosely called "civilisation diseases" are considered to be conditioned by poor nutritional habits, with excessive protein intake in particular pushing the body toward acidification in the literal, physiological sense of the word.
The pattern that results is described as mesenchymal acidosis occurring alongside a simultaneously and misleadingly raised alkaline blood pH value — a pathological acidity quotient that signals a genuine metabolic derailment, with real risk of acute or chronic disease if left unaddressed. The encouraging counterpoint is that healthy people can achieve a great deal simply by choosing a vegetarian, whole-food-orientated diet — merely changing one's nutrition, in the words of the tradition, can go a long way toward restoring a balanced acid-base maintenance.
"It is undisputed that most of civilization diseases are conditioned by our poor nutritional habits... a pathological acidity quotient... [is a] sure criteria for a metabolic derailment, with the danger of an acute or chronic disease."
The Core Deacidification Remedies
Where diet alone is not enough, or needs active support, a specific group of preparations is used as the supportive measure of choice.
Alkala® N is considered the perfect treatment for restoring the acid-base equilibrium, including in cases of excessive acidification of the gastrointestinal tract with its familiar consequences — heartburn and gas among them. It is also available as Alkala® S and in Alkala® T tablet form, giving flexibility in how deacidification support is delivered day to day.
Citrokehl®, a potentised preparation of citric acid, supports the regulation of cell respiration and acid-base management by counteracting blood alkalosis — working, in effect, from the opposite direction to Alkala, but toward the same balanced end point.
Sanuvis® is a further preparation for regulating the pH value of the blood and tissue, built around L(+) lactic acid as its active constituent. Its particular strength lies in the range of potencies brought together within the single preparation: the lower potencies serve to raise cellular respiration, while the higher potencies serve the elimination of excessive lactic acid concentrations — especially the nonphysiological D(-) form of lactic acid that the body cannot use efficiently.
Formasan®, a preparation of potencies of formic acid, rounds out this group with particular relevance to joint, muscle and connective tissue support, where acid-base imbalance and its downstream inflammatory consequences are often most keenly felt.
The SANUM Excretion Cure
Deacidification does not work in isolation from elimination. Alongside the remedies above, the tradition describes a structured protocol — the SANUM Excretion Cure — built around three herbal homeopathic remedies used on a weekly rhythm: Okoubasan®, from the tree bark of Okoubaka aubrevillei, alternated through the working week with Luffasan®, from the fruit of Luffa operculata, with the weekend given over instead to a different formulation. Okoubasan in particular is valued for detoxifying the gastrointestinal tract in cases of food intolerance, and prophylactically for the disruption that comes with changes in climate or diet, making it an excellent preparation for detoxification of the entire system — especially useful in the early stages of colds and flu.
The excretion cure is typically supported by Selenokehl®, Mapurit® L and Zinkokehl® as daily additions, alongside a nutritional approach that omits cow's milk, hen's eggs and pork — followed, in the tradition's own words, for numerous weeks or months rather than as a quick fix.
Terrain First, Organism Second
What this article makes clear is that SANUM therapy is never only about the specific fungal or bacterial organism a remedy is named for. Step 1 of the wider 4-Step Werthmann protocol we will examine later in this series is milieu regulation, running across the entire duration of treatment — deacidification and detoxification working continuously in the background while more targeted preparations do their specific work. Restoring the acid-base terrain is not a preliminary step to be ticked off before the "real" treatment begins; it runs alongside everything else, because in this model the terrain is where the real treatment happens.
Having covered how the terrain itself is restored, the next article turns to the immune system directly — the bacterial-phase preparations, such as Latensin, Recarcin and Utilin, used for active immunomodulation.
